(MINNEAPOLIS, MN, 8/15/19) – the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN) today condemned President Trump’s support for the Israeli government’s denial of entry to two U.S. Muslim Congresswomen, preventing one from seeing her grandmother and both from visiting one of the holiest sites in Islam which blurs the lines of violating the establishment clause of the constitution.
The Israeli government claims it will deny entry to Representatives Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) due to “suspected provocations and promotion of BDS.” [NOTE: BDS refers to Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions in support of Palestinian human rights.]
That announcement came after President Trump said Israel would be showing “great weakness” if it allowed the two members of Congress to enter Israel.

CAIR-Minnesota issued a statement today stating:
“Once again President Trump has targeted congresswoman Ilhan and Rashida for their faith by asking the Netanyahu’s government to bar them from entry to the holy sites in the Holyland. Trump continues to double down on anti-Muslim and Islamophobic rhetoric, which in this case blurs the lines of direct violations of the constitution’s establishment clause.”
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
