Imam Director
Position Summary:
Provide Islamic religious guidance, practices, and leadership to ICT, according to the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings be upon him), establish and promote educational and extracurricular programs for youth and adults, lead the establishment in a manner welcoming of all Muslims from different backgrounds and cultures, and engage with the larger community to promote friendship and understanding between Muslims and non-Muslims in the community. The Imam Director reports to the Board of Directors through an appointed coordinator.
Required Qualifications:
โข A degree in Islamic Studies or a related field from an accredited educational institution โข Memorized a major portion of the Quran โข Fluency in English and Arabic (both spoken and written) โข Comprehensive knowledge of Islamic Shariah โข Experience as an Imam โข Able to interact with and lead youth โข Able to work with people of different cultures and backgrounds โข Able to teach โข Mature and broad understanding of Islam โข Demonstrated experience in conflict prevention and resolution โข Demonstrated experience in an Islamic family and youth counseling โข Has a dynamic personality and is a motivational speaker โข Experience in speaking with non-Muslims about Islam โข Self-motivated, and has a vision to lead the community spiritually and Islamically โข Experience in conducting workshops and seminars
Imam-Director Responsibilities:
โข Lead the daily prayers at the ICT โข Give the Khutbah and lead prayer for Jumuโah and Eid Prayers โข Provide funeral services and guidance โข Conduct matrimonial services โข Offer Islamic family and youth counseling and guidance as needed โข Provide Hadith studies, Seerah, Tafseer and Fiqh lessons, and other Islamic topics to increase knowledge and provide for spiritual growth of community members โข Remain Madhab/ Fiqh neutral to better serve the diverse congregation of ICT โข Participate in community activities that further good interfaith and public relations for Islam and Muslims โข Develop and implement educational and extracurricular programs for the youth โข Work with Board of Directors on annual fundraising programs for the community as needed โข Plan Imamโs activities and present them to the Board of Directors โข Provide consultation to the Board of Directors on religious matters, community issues, and Mosque activities as requested General Responsibilities: โข Work approximately 40 hours per week โข Maintain regular and convenient office hours at the Mosque for community members to seek religious counsel and guidance โข Interact with all people and organizations, Muslim and Non-Muslim, in a positive manner โข Continually strive and conduct oneself in ways that foster unity and a sense of inclusion among all community members, and promote broad participation in Islamic and community activities โข Lead by example to prevent discrimination on any basis including but not limited to school of thought, gender, race, nationality, ethnic origin, citizenship, political affiliation, or economic status โข Conduct oneself in a manner that is respectful of the history and diversity of the Muslim community โข Regular meetings on a quarterly basis with the Imam committee to evaluate performance Work Eligibility Requirements: US Citizen or Permanent Resident
