What is Eemaan (Islamic Belief) ?

Islamic belief, Eemaan, or Iman is the core foundation of the Islamic faith. It refers to the set of beliefs that Muslims must hold in order to be considered Muslim. These beliefs are based on the Quran and the Sunnah (the teachings and practices of the Prophet Muhammad).

There are six articles of faith in Islamic belief:

Belief in God

The first and most important article of faith is the belief in God. Muslims believe in one God, who is the creator and sustainer of the universe. This belief is summed up in the declaration of faith, or shahada: “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His messenger.”

Belief in Angels

Muslims also believe in angels, who are spiritual beings created by God. Angels are responsible for carrying out God’s will and are mentioned throughout the Quran.

Belief in Prophets

Muslims believe that God has sent prophets throughout history to guide humanity. These prophets include Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad. Muslims believe that Muhammad is the final prophet and messenger of God.

Belief in Scriptures

Muslims believe that God has revealed scriptures to guide humanity. The most important of these is the Quran, which Muslims believe to be the literal word of God. Muslims also believe in the previous scriptures, including the Torah and the Gospel, but believe that these have been corrupted over time.

Belief in the Day of Judgment

Muslims believe in the Day of Judgment when all individuals will be judged according to their deeds and sent to either heaven or hell. This belief serves as a reminder to live a righteous life and to seek forgiveness for one’s sins.

Belief in Destiny

Muslims believe in destiny, or qadar, which refers to the belief that everything that happens is part of God’s plan. While Muslims believe that humans have free will, they also believe that everything that happens is ultimately determined by God.

In addition to these six articles of faith, Islamic belief also includes a belief in the oneness of God, the importance of prayer, the obligation to give to charity, the necessity of fasting during the month of Ramadan, and the requirement to make a pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in a lifetime.

Islamic belief is based on the fundamental concepts of the oneness of God, the belief in prophets, angels, scriptures, the Day of Judgment, and destiny. These beliefs guide Muslims in their daily lives and serve as a foundation for building a strong connection with God.
